Friday February 17th to Sunday February 19th inclusive saw the Modern Format Magic: The Gathering Grand Prix take place at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. After two long days and 15 rounds of Swiss Pair followed by a top eight cut it all came down to one match. Oliver Orks with ‘Lantern Control’ and Zen Takahashi with ‘Dredge’.
Zen had just defeated teammate Lee Shi Tian (Ranked 13th in the world as of February 16th) in a ‘Dredge’ mirror match. Oliver had just triumphed against Sydney local Timothy Cheng with his ‘Living End’ deck, a match that lasted well over an hour.
After a short break the final match begun and Australian Tabletop Gaming Network was on site to record the match.
