I like to think the cafe belonged to the GM’s aunt and uncle, who let them use a big booth for a few hours on quiet evenings on the condition everyone buys a drink while they’re there.
I did once have a mini laptop that had all that stuff on it, but only the books really got used because playing with dice and writing on sheets is just more fun. Having said that, the character sheet creation program had a few different popular RPG systems to choose from, and it really was fun to muck about with because it automatically adjusted modifiers for race, class, etc. as you made it so you didn’t have to look it up! Only research nerds have fun looking stuff up. (I may or may not be a research nerd).
